In our last posting we promised you a recap of our exciting trip to the Sacramento State Capital. This was our second annual trip organized by Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, KHTS and Valencia Acura as an opportunity for local business leaders, educators and government officials to meet directly with our legislators on key issues in our community. Very few communities in the country do anything like this! We know that we made an impression that will have a significant impact on a number of key local issues. The fact that 65 very busy people took two days out of their lives, hopped on a bus to tackle local education and transportation issues at our State Capitol is a reflection of the community we live in. It’s the close-knit relationships in our Valley that allow us to put together an event like this and get this kind of support and turnout.

This year’s issues included funding for the expansion of carpool and truck lanes for the portion of the Golden State Freeway that cuts through Santa Clarita. Education projects included a fairer system of reimbursements for Special Ed students for our public school districts, along with improvements on concurrent enrollment for our high school students who want to take classes at COC.

Our trip included meetings with State Senator George Runner, Assemblywoman Sharon Runner, State Assemblyman John Benoit, Assemblyman Mike Feuer, Assemblyman Paul Krekorian, Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, State Senator George Runner, State Senator Tom McClintock, and representatives from Cal Trans and the State Department of Education.

“To say that I am satisfied with my recent visit to your service department would be an understatement.

I was recently in an auto accident and my MDX was crunched up pretty good. So it was delivered to Pride Auto body for the repairs. As part of the repairs Pride Auto would be sending my MDX over to your service department to install a new airbag and dash. Fortunately my car was due for its 30,000 mile check up. So when my MDX was sent to your service department to install the new parts, I asked Robin to complete my 30,000 mile checkup at the same time.

It was important to me to know that when my car repairs were complete, that I would be confident that the car that would be "as close to new" as possible. I wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be any additional unforeseen problems as the result of the accident. So I asked Robin to go the extra mile to look the car over. On several occasions Robin called me back to report what had been done. I can say that I am confident that my MDX has been given the once over. I really appreciate the attention to detail and the fact that I did not have to call to ask a service update. And Robin is the greatest! Thank you to all at Valencia Acura! You guys are the BEST !!”
