Two events that are near and dear to me
Hi Everybody,
On my last blog entry, I told you that I had catching up to do and I better keep it going since there is so much happening.
I want to share with you two things that are near and dear to me, the Crawford/Fleming Golf Invitational with the proceeds benefiting the SheilaR.VelozBreastImagingCenter and the upcoming Arthritis Walk on April 27th.
The 9th Annual Crawford/Fleming Golf Invitational was held in October, 2007 with a huge success. The chairs of the event were Don Fleming, Jeanna Crawford and Wayne Crawford. What a good job they did!
It was a spectacular day on October 30th with a new theme. I’m sure many of you remember in October, there were the devastating fires. The fires and the unhealthful air cancelled the golf invitational until the following week. Amazingly, almost all of our players were able to show up the following week to enjoy a great golf at TPC Valencia and a casino themed evening. We did something new this year….no auction. The night was about great food, supplied by Chef Daniel Otto at TPC Valencia and fun and games. It was a lot of fun!
We did the check presentation to the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Foundation benefiting the SheilaR.VelozBreastImagingCenter on January 31st. The check was for an amazing $76,900. We’re thrilled to be able to donate to the Center especially as they are ready to update more equipment and the funds are very much needed.
On April 27th is the Arthritis Walk. For the past 3 years, Don and I have co-chaired this event. My support to the Arthritis Foundation is a personal one. I have rheumatoid arthritis and the research and support that the Arthritis Foundation provides is invaluable to all of us inflicted with this disease. I hope if you are reading my blog, you will consider supporting anybody you know who is participating in the walk or put together a team and come on out and walk with us! The Arthritis Foundation recently honored me with the Beverly Twigg Kennedy Award at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Beverly Twigg Kennedy was a volunteer of the Arthritis Foundation. The qualities she had embodied were tenacity, strength and commitment. I am truly honored to receive this award.
I left you on my last blog entry telling you about Bumper and his return after being at long term training. He is such a puppy! We found out he loves to dash around the dealership playing with his toys. Don was tossing a football today. Bumper didn’t make the catch but had great fun sliding around the floors and getting it back to Don to, of course, throw again.
Here at Valencia Acura, we have been thrilled with Acura’s new campaign – Acura Advance. The focus of the ads is all the incredible technology that the Acura line offers. Our customers and potential customers are looking for the car that brings them ahead of the curve on technology. What a smart group all of you are. Forward thinking.
